AN ANCESTRAL WINEMAKING HERITAGE

The Burgundian terroir

Land of great wines and spirits, Burgundy is an exceptional terroir where the vine shapes landscapes and traditions. Its rich and varied soils, combined with an ideal climate, give rise to grape varieties of rare elegance, from which our marcs and fines of Burgundy are derived.

This wine heritage is accompanied by an abundance of gourmet fruits, such as black currant from Burgundy, raspberry or even the Burgundy plum that inspire the creation of our eaux-de-vie, creams and fruit liqueurs with intense flavors.

Distillation in Burgundy is an ancient tradition that dates back to the Middle Ages. As early as the 14th century, stills were used to produce eaux-de-vie from grape marc. In 1581, a royal edict officially authorized the distillation of marc in Burgundy, confirming its importance in the region. In the 17th century, bouilleurs de cru multiplied, perpetuating a know-how that was passed down from generation to generation.

Even today, distillation is part of the Burgundian heritage, with eaux-de-vie recognized for their finesse and authentic character

THE HISTORY OF LA MAISON JACOULOT

Maison Jacoulot
1891

Creation of the Maison Jacoulot

Born in 1862 in Romanèche-Thorins, Vincent Jacoulot grew up between the inn and his father's cooperage.

In 1891, freshly released from military service, he distilled his first grapes to create eaux-de-vie de Bourgogne: the Maison Jacoulot was born!

Inspired by his paternal uncle, a liquorist in Lyon, he lays the foundations of a know-how that still endures today.

1931

Distillers from father to son

The reputation of Burgundy Jacoulot's Marcs and Fines is well established: the numerous medals won in prestigious competitions attest to an exceptional know-how.

Upon Vincent Jacoulot's passing in 1931, his son Roger naturally took over, ensuring the continuity of the business and its ongoing development.
